Sprengisandur desert road opened this morning

 Mountain road F26 across Sprengisandur opened this morning. Last week, the mountain roads of Landmannalaugar and Fimmvörðuháls opened.

As well as the road through Sprengisandur, the westernmost part of road F919 from Tómasarhagi to Gæsavatnsleið is open although Gæsavatnsleið is still closed. The road to Snæfellsskáli in the Vatnajökull national park has been opened. 

The SAR team's mountain patrol will be on duty from today until August.
