The Reykjavik Fire Department urges parents and guardians to follow weather announcements carefully. An orange alert has been issued for the Reykjavik capital area tomorrow morning.  Younger children should by no means go to school unaccompanied.

A violent storm with hurricane force winds is expected to hit Iceland between 7 and 10 am.

"Schools will be open but it's important that parents make sure that younger children do not go to school by themselves, especially in open areas. By younger children we mean children under age of twelve."
