Fresh fish for sale, reads the hand-written poster in remote Tálknafjörður in the West Fjords of Iceland. It's a sign for a self-service fishmongers where you simply just take your fish and leave money in a jar. The owners simply place good faith in their customers.
The little shop offers a fridge filled with freshly packed fillets of fish, as well as fishballs and fish chowder of wonderful quality.
Customers are asked to write down what they bought and to either make a deposit on the bank account specified (for locals) or to place money in the jar.
As an added bonus, you can pick up ice to keep your fish cool on your journey.
