Iceland's Ring Road closed in South East Iceland due to storm

The no.1 ring road around Iceland is now closed in two different sections in South East Iceland due to the storm.   One part is between Steinar and Vík and the other between Gígjukvísl and Jökulsárlón. The road will open later today. 

Road repair which was due to occur tonight has been postponed due to the storm. Instead the road will now be closed from 8 pm this Sunday until 8 am on Monday. 

Winds should go down later today and it's snowing on many highland roads causing poor visibility and road conditions. There are strong winds in South and South East Iceland whcih means that cars pulling trailers should avoid travel today.
