Bookings are already coming for cruise ship slots in Reykjavik for August 2026, when locals and visitors will be treated to a spectacular total eclipse of the sun.

Norwegian cruise operator Fred Olsen hse certainly got ahead of the game by booking two slots for their cruise ships ten years from now.

On 12 August 2026, the moon will interpose itself between the sun and the earth casting a 300 km wide shadow over Iceland. Cruise ship passengers – as well as locals and visitors flying in – will be guaranteed a sight to behold.

The sun is expected to be entirely obscured by the moon for one minute and ten seconds in the capital, Reykjavik. It is an opportunity not to be missed as the subsequent solar eclipse is not due in Iceland until 14 June 2151!
