This morning saw the maiden service by Icelandic low-cost airline WOW air to the Swedish capital of Stockholm.

The service will be operated four times a week all year round. Flights land at Stockholm’s Västerås airport (VST), which serves not just Stockholm, but also Uppsala, Västerås, Örebro, Eskilstuna and neighbouring areas.

“I am particularly happy to see the start of flights to Sweden as I grew up there and know the country well,” says WOW air CEO Skúli Mogensen.

“There is clearly great demand and opportunity to offer much lowers fares than have hitherto been available to and from Sweden.”
