Section of Iceland’s Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon up for sale
A section of land in South Iceland currently under the hammer contains a small section of the country’s adored Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon.
The land to be sold lies to the east of the red line on the map below and includes the eastern bank of the lagoon and a small part of it.
The majority of the lagoon is ‘free’ ownerless land managed by the Icelandic State. An auction process is currently under way for bids to buy the land in question and the remaining section of the lagoon – one of Iceland’s premier tourist attractions.
