Icelandair to resume Brussels service on Tuesday
Icelandair has announced that it will be resuming flights to the Belgian capital of Brussels on Tuesday, exactly two weeks after the city’s airport was devastated by a suicide bomb attack.
Iceland’s flag carrier had initially planned for a restart of its Brussels service yesterday, but a new announcement indicates that flights remain cancelled for the rest of this week.
Barring new developments, this means that the next Icelandair flight will be next Tuesday, 5 April.
Two nail bombs ripped through the departure lounge of Brussels airport early in the morning of 22 March, killing eighteen and injuring over eighty.
Brussels Airport is reportedly now ‘technically ready’ to reopen, with flights possibly resuming this evening.
Icelandair currently flies to Brussels 2-3 times a week over the winter season and 3-7 times a week in the summer.
