Keflavík now 7th largest Nordic airport
Rising passenger numbers at Iceland’s main international airport (KEF) have pushed the airport two places up the list of largest Nordic airports, to seventh place.
According to Icelandic tourism and travel news website turisti.is (link in Icelandic), passengers numbers at Keflavík International Airport rose by some 25% from 2014 to 2015, reaching almost 4.9 million last year.
KEF therefore leapfrogs Stavanger (SVG) and Trondheim (TRD) to take seventh place. Passenger numbers at these two Norwegian airports fell slightly over the same period.
KEF officials forecast 6.25 million passengers in 2016, which could conceivably take the airport even further up the table.
