Some summer reminiscences...

It hardly needs to be said how beautiful a country and people Iceland is. And as the festive season approaches, a carpet of crisp white snow just serves to make the beautiful even more beautiful.
The drone pictures of snowy Reykjavik published by Iceland Monitor earlier today are perfect testimony to this.
Sadly, however, day-to-day life is not just huddling up at home with a mug of hot chocolate and a good book and admiring picture-postcard views from the window. Or window shopping on Laugavegur with the pleasant crunch of newly fallen snow under foot. Or skating and sledding to the heart-warming ring of kids’ (and big kids’) laughter and whoops of delight.
So those of you who are already a little tired of wet socks, sub-zero temperatures, and scraping the snow off your car with an old CD case because you can’t for the life of you remember where you put the scraper you bought the last time it snowed, this bit of winter escapism is for you.
We’ve put together a selection of cheerful photos of the sunny Icelandic summer and those long, long days – for those of you for whom the Icelandic winter is not quite your cup of tea.
Enjoy – and remember, it will soon be June again...
