Iceland Post (Pósturinn) has hired a chat cat by the name of Njáll, whose job it will be to provide online assistance to customers, according to a press release. He is expected to considerably shorten wait time for customers and to improve customer service.

“We’re delighted to have Njáll on our team,” states Auður Ösp Ólafsdóttir, website and marketing specialist at Iceland Post. “He is extremely eager to learn and has gone through extensive training by our very best people in the marketing, service and software departments for the past weeks and months in preparation for his new role. We truly believe he will make it possible for us to provide the customers of Iceland Post with much improved service and a shorter wait time for assistance at the service center.”

Incidentally, Njáll is the namesake of one the greatest heroes of The Sagas of the Icelanders, known for being extremely knowledgeable and wise. Bearing such a name, the expectation is that Njáll the chat cat will have an answer to every question and give exceptionally wise advice.
