If you ever celebrated Christmas in Iceland, you know that part of what makes it special is Icelandic leaf bread. Thanks to Hússtjórnarskólinn, the local school of Icelandic culinary arts and crafts, you now have a chance to learn the art of making this beautiful delicacy.

All you need to do is take the ferry to Viðey island on Sunday, where Margrét Sigfúsdóttir, the school’s principal, will offer a workshop on how to make the bread, starting at 1:30 pm,

The cost is ISK 2,250 for ten pieces of leaf bread.

Viðey House has a limited supply of leaf-bread irons and paring knives. Therefore, guests are asked to bring their own utensils, such as small knives.

A selection of meals and refreshments is available for purchase at Viðey Restaurant.

To register for this event, please contact staff at videyjarstofa@videyjarstofa.is

The ferry departs from Skarfabakki pier for Viðey island at 1:15, 2:15, and 3:15 pm.

Ferry tickets are ISK 1,600 ISK for adults and ISK 800 ISK for children, aged 7-15.
