If you can't get on a flight to New York today, head to Reykjavik's arthouse cinema Bíó Paradís who are screening a live performance by the New York City Ballet of the most enchanting Christmas ballet ever, The Nutcracker.
Tchaikovskys beloved melodies transport the young and young at heart to a magical world where mischievous mice besiege a battalion of toy soldiers, and an onstage blizzard leads to an enchanted Land of Sweets.
New York City Ballets famously extravagant staging features Balanchines stunning choreography amidst awe-inspiring set pieces, ornate costumes and grand one-of-a-kind visual effects, like the one-tonne Christmas tree that grows to an astonishing 12 metres.
The Nutcracker is at Bíó Paradís tonight, Friday at 8 pm and on Saturday at 8 pm.
