The Iceland Airwaves Music Festival will be held in Akureyri, sometimes referred to as the capital of North Iceland, in 2017. This is the first time that this popular Reykjavik international music festival expands to Akureyri.

Two or three venues in Akureyri will take part in the fesitval including Græni Hatturinn.

There will be direct flights from Keflavik International Airport this winter which means that Airwaves goers could fly straight to Akureyri if they so desire, and then take a domestic flight back to Reykjavik.

Ticket sales for Iceland Airwaves 2017 begin on February 1st.

Three types of wristbands will be available:

The Akureyri wristband, which gives entry to all Akureyri concerts, Akureyri PLUS wristband which gives entry to all events both in Akureyri and in Reykjavik on November 4th and 5th.
