Today, a concert at Mengi in Reykjavik features a two section musical work/sound installation by Þóranna Björnssdóttir called Music for heavy and light atmospheres.

The work is inspired by the hectic alternations of weather in Iceland in terms of air pressure and are a blend of Thoranna’s daily field recordings and electronic/computer manipulations.

The two compositions will be released both as a two sided audio cassette and as an online app, made in collaboration with the Icelandic Met Office works as a self generated mixer, blending both works, following the fluctuations of the air pressure in real time.

The cassette, released by Lady Boy Records, is a limited edition (50pcs) laser engraved tape, each copy is unique and numbered.

The sound installation takes place from 5 - 9 pm tonight, Saturday at Mengi, a centre for expermental art and music in the city centre, and admission is free.
