Four great cafés in Reykjavik
Wondering where to grab a morning coffee? Here are four ideas from Iceland Monitor in no particular order.
This atmospheric café now has two branches, one on Kárastígur near Hallgrímskirkja church, and one in Brautarholt near Hlemmur square. They're both extremely laid back and cosy and serve a wonderful selection of coffee and tea as well as a healthy selection of small meals. Try their oatmilk Latte and avocado toast. There's a nice kid's corrner as well.
2. Babalú
This hippy-trippy café on Skólavörðustígur stands out with its cheery orange exterior and well-worn interiors. Wonderful for coffee and cake with a really homey feel.
Reykjavik's first artist's café still remains a firm favourite with arty types. It's actually the city's oldest coffee shop and the interiors haven't changed since the 1950's. A scrumptious and very traditional selection of waffles and cakes.
This newcomer on Hverfisgata is the ultimate in laid-back cool. Great coffee, an enticing vegan menu and what's more, you can browse through the selection of vinyl s and play what you want.
