Houses evacuated in Seyðisfjörður

The police in East Iceland have decided, in agreement with the Icelandic Met Office and the National Police Commissioner, to evacuate some houses in Seyðisfjörður due to precipitation forecasts in East Iceland.

As has been mentioned, the civil protection uncertainty level has been activated and the alert level is expected to move up to the crisis level later today.

The evacuation will take effect from 6 PM and remain in effect until something else is announced.

The situation continues to be closely monitored, as reported by the Civil Protection Agency.

The evacuation areas are: 4 – 5 – 6 – 7a

The houses in question are:

Strandarvegur 39 – 35 – 33 – 29 – 27 – 23 – 21 – 19 to 15 – 13 – 2 – 1 to 11

Hafnargata 57 – 54 – 53a –53 – 52a – 52 – 50 – 51 – 49 – 48b – 48– 47 – 46b – 46 – 44b – 44 –– 43 – 42b – 42 – 40 – 38 – 25
