2 Oct 2018Three earthquakes have occurred in the last 36 hours in South East Iceland. Two of them in Bárðarbunga and one in Öræfajökull of a magnitude just over 3.0. The earthquake in Öræfajökull is the sixth earthquake of that size to have occurred since measurements began.
14 Sep 2018 An earthquake originating in the Bláfjöll mountains occurred last night at 20:17 and measured 4.2. It was felt in Reykjavik, Hafnarfjörður and Kópavogur and was followed by several smaller aftershocks.
14 Jul 2018A geologist at the Iceland Met OFfice explains that the current unrest in Öræfajökull volcano could continue for days, weeks, months and even years. Yesterday the Iceland Civil Protection released a statement that the volcano was experiencing clear signs of unrest.

14 Jun 2018An earthquake swarm is currently occuring in the Northern part of Bárðarbunga beginning with a quake of the magnitude of 4.1 at 13.14 at noon. Several quakes followed suit and then a larger one occurred at 15.05 at a magnitude of 4.9.

27 Mar 2018 Almost thirty earthquakes occurred in North Iceland and the ocean north of Iceland last night. The largest earthquake of the swarm occcured at 2.30 AM at a magnitude of 3.0. Its origins were around 20 km North East of Siglufjörður.
26 Mar 2018 An unusual smell was detected in an ice cave in Breiðamerkurjökull yesterday. Specialists from the Iceland Met Office are now using equipment to measure for sulphur dioxide and sulphur hydroxide in the cave.
