Icelandic names in the Paradise Papers

Amongst the individuals found in the Paradise Papers are the names of Icelandic investors Björgólfur Thor Björgólfsson, Gísli Hjálmtýsson and Róbert Guðfinnsson, as well as a few employess of the National Power Company of Iceland. 

Björgólfur Thor Björgólfsson is a well-known entrepreneur and businessman and was the first Icelander to join Forbes magazine's list of the world's richest people in 2005. He was the former owner of Landsbankinn and Straumur who went bankrupt following the economic crisis in Iceland in 2008.

Dr. Gísli Hjálmtýsson is a partner and CEO of Thule Investments. He was a Dean of Computer Science and Engineering and Reykjavík University and before that he worked for companies including AVX and AT&T. 

Róbert Guðfinnsson chosen Businessperson of the Year by Icelandic business publication Frjáls verslun in 2014. He has invested heavily in the small town of Siglufjörður in North Iceland.

The companies connected to Björgólfsson and Hjálmtýsson are registered in Bermuda and Guðfinnson's company is registered in Malta.
