Þórdís Elva Þorvaldsdóttir was raped by her teenage boyfriend, Australian exchange student Tom Stranger. Years later, the victim and perpetrator reunited for an unprecedented collaboration, a book called South of Forgiveness.

Þorvaldsdóttir, who didn't bring charges at the time broke her silence years later by sending Stranger an email describing the violence he subjected her to. Instead of a negative response, he admitted his guilt, and then decided to meet up to face the past.

The book will be available on March 16th and here is an incredible TED talk by both of them.
