A protest has been organised today, June 19th in the city centre where women are encouraged to paint their faces yellow or orange just like the facebook profile pictures in the #þöggun movement to speak out against sexual violence.

The protest is against sexual violence and against gender pay inequality.

Yellow faces are for those women who know someone who has experienced sexual violence and orange faces for those who have experienced sexual violence.

The main protestation today, however, is against the government's strike legislation which bans nurses going on strike.

"It was a slap in the face that only six days before the celebrations of June 19th, the government decided to put laws on the strike. Women have complained about low wages for decades. We're told to be firm and decisive and to claim our rights. Then what happens? They put a law on us. We're not going to wait for a hundred years. "
