Key executive in Play’s Malta operations resigns

Halldór Guðfinnsson, Chief Operating Officer of Fly Play Europe, has left the company, according to mbl.is sources. Halldór also previously served as COO of Play in Iceland.

The COO role carries overall responsibility for the airline’s daily operations and ensuring compliance with EASA regulations as well as national aviation authorities.

This meant that Guðfinnsson oversaw all licensing matters and maintained direct contact with Maltese authorities regarding Play’s foreign air operator’s certificate, which was secured in March of this year.

Guðfinnsson declined to comment further on his resignation or on the next steps for Fly Play Europe.
