Saga VR, a company that specializes in virtual-play experiences, has signed a collaboration agreement with Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik.

A space has been set up in Harpa, where people can experience VR’s virtual reality.

“Saga VR is a tourism based on a virtual reality experience where you can experience Iceland from the air. It is a multimedia content where you can experience the view of the bird flying in 360 degrees. For example, viewers can see the volcanic eruption at Fagradalsfjall mountain, Seljalandsfoss waterfall, Landmannalaugar, Jökulsárlón in south Iceland, Goðafoss waterfall, Mývatn, Ásbyrgi in northeast Iceland and Snæfellsnes peninsula. The directors and producers are Leifur Einarsson and Sigurjón Sighvatsson, who are the founders of Saga VR along with Jóhann Pétur Reyndal and Hafdís Hreiðarsdóttir, who is the company’s CEO,” the announcement reads.

A new type of tourism

“We looked for new ways to give people the opportunity to experience Iceland. In fact, there is a new kind of tourism, virtual tourism or even green tourism, where the goal is to allow foreign tourists to experience the country in a unique way. We set up a so-called ‘pop up’ space in Harpa Concert Hall this summer, and it was extremely well-received by both tourists and locals. Harpa is a great cultural house and I’m pleased that we have now made an agreement to continue with the Saga VR in the house,” Sigurjón Sighvatsson said in an announcement.

The founders of VR’s Saga anticipate expanding across the country and offering more virtual experiences in the foreseeable future.
