The Ring Road closed in two places
The road beneath Hafnarfjall mountain has been closed as well as Hellisheiði, the road from Reykjavik to Hveragerði. mbl.is/Eggert Jóhannesson
The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (IRCA) has closed the ring-road in two places, one is Hellisheiði which is closed, but an alternate route is open through Þrengslin road, however, only well equipped cars are allowed through there.

In addition, the road under Hafnarfjall mountain has been closed while unprepared cars that are stuck are being assisted. According to information from the IRCA, the closure could last some time.
The road to Dettifoss waterfall is also closed due to snow and weather and then it is possible that the road from Kirkjubæjarklaustur to Jökulsárlón will be closed. Larger cars should not be traveling because of the wind in that area.
G. Pétur Matthíasson, information officer of IRCA, tells mbl.is that the roads will open as soon as possible.
