The West Iceland Police have received several reports of suspicious people in their district in January. In one case, there was a break-in and vandalism reported.

The incidents took place in Borgarnes and Akranes. On their Facebook page, police remind residents to keep their eyes open to suspicious activity and to lock all doors, storage areas and garages and to close windows.

Residents have reported seeing someone trying to enter houses in the middle of night. In one case, two men were spotted, one of them tall, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, the other one chubby, wearing a grey, hooded sweatshirt.

The individuals are reported to enter people’s yards to see whether homes are locked. Police especially remind residents to lock back doors and close windows that could be opened from the outside.
