Birna's murderer beat her repeatedly in face and head
The charges against Thomas Møller Olsen, suspected of killing Birna Brjánsdóttir in January, have been revealed to Icelandic media. Olsen is charged with beating her repeatedly over the face and head inside the red Kia Rio vehicle, holding her by the throat with great force and throwing her into the water where she drowned.
These violent events occurred either when the car was parked at Hafnarfjörður harbour or in another unidentified location.
Birna's body was found on January 22nd on a beach by Selvogsviti lighthouse after the most extensive search in Iceland's history when she had been missing for one week.
Olsen is also charged for a drug smuggling offence having tried to smuggle 23 kilos of cannabis to Greenland which he had hidden in his cabin on the Polar Nanoq trawler.
Birna's parents have demanded a compensation of 10.5 million ISK each.
