Icelandic clothing line inspired by the ocean

One of Iceland’s most successful, upscale, outdoor clothing companies, 66° North is premiering a new line in collaboration with designer Hildur Yeoman today. The line is inspired by the ocean. This is very fitting as the 66° North started out producing protective garment for sailors when it was founded in back 1926, and still does, even though their biggest brand today is a lot more fashionable.

Designer Hildur Yeoman also has a strong connection to the ocean, it’s visible in much of her design in one way or another.

Yeoman is known for using print in her design, this project is no exception. The wave pattern she created for the project references drawings of the ocean she as previously worked with in an art project created on a wall. “I wanted to work with the ocean drawings further, and implement it in a knitting pattern,” she says.

Yeoman is one of Iceland's hottest designers right now. She has designed for the Icelandic international music icon, Björk, and just opened a new boutiqe in Reykjavik centre.
