Peckish Icelanders and visiting foreigners have chomped their way through over one million doughnuts sold by the Dunkin’ Donuts chain since the first outlet opened in Iceland one year ago.

There are now three branches of Dunkin’ Donuts open in Iceland with two more to come in the next few weeks.

“This has been a very interesting year for us,” says CEO of Dunkin’ Donuts Iceland Sigurður Karlsson. “We have had over 300,000 customers, sold over 250,000 drinks and over one million doughnuts.”

The fourth outlet is expected to open in the south-west Iceland municipality of Reykjanesbær in mid-August, and the fifth in the arrivals hall of Keflavík International Airport a couple of weeks later.

“Our long-term goal is to have sixteen outlets in Iceland, so we are just getting started,” says Karlsson.
