Work on Iceland’s first Costco outlet is expected to begin in just under a week’s time.

The new Iceland branch of Costco, the world’s second largest retailer, is due to open in November this year in the Greater Reykjavik municipality of Garðabær.

The 14,000m2 shop and twelve-pump petrol forecourt is expected to employ 160 people to begin with, rising to 250 over three years.

The Costco chain currently operates some 670 stores in Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and the United States.
