The Pink Ribbon campaign, or Bleika slaufan in Icelandic, begins formally today. The campaign is an internationally operating charity organization to raise awareness of cancer in women.
Jeweller Erling Jóhannesson designed this year's pink ribbon brooch in Iceland and yesterday former president Vigdís Finnbogadóttir presented four women, who have all been diagnosed with cancer, with the brooch.
This year the focus is on raising awareness of colon cancer.
A brooch costs 2,000 ISK and is available at shops all around Iceland and online. For further details see HERE.
A number of prominent buildings in Reykjavik will also be donning hues of pink to support the cause.
