Three postal bags filled with letters were found in the Gufunes cemetary in Reykjavik. When officials from the national postal service, Íslandspóstur, were dispatched to the premises, they discovered letters sent in May and June 2015.
The matter was reported to the Reykjavik Metropolitan Police who are investigating the matter.
The letters were supposed to have been delivered to postal codes 110, 112, 113 and 270 and will be delivered in the next few days. The national postal service would like to offer their sincere apologies to those concerned.
This is the third such matter reported in Iceland in the last six months.
