An Icelander, Alma Ágústsdóttir, has beaten 49 other young contestants from around the world to win the 2015 International Public Speaking Competition (IPSC), organised by the English-Speaking Union (ESU).

National champions from fifty countries across the globe have spent the last week in London, UK, in training with ESU mentors.

This afternoon saw the grand final of the competition, in which Ágústsdóttir saw off all other contenders to take this year’s IPSC crown. The topic for speeches this year was ‘To be ignorant of the past is to remain a child’. Ágústdóttir’s winning speech was titled ‘It's ignorance, it isn't bliss’.
