A large earthquake was felt today at noon around 5 km South West of Geirfugladrangi on the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland. The earthquake was of a magnitude of 3.9. 

According to Bryndís Ýr Gísladóttir at the Iceland Met Office earthquakes in this area are fairly common. Many people felt the earthquake and called the office.

An earthquake also occured in the Katla caldera this morning of a  magnitude of 3, as well as numerous smaller ones.
