VIDEO: 15 years of quakes and eruptions in 4 minutes
A new video produced by data provider DataMarket gives a spectacular overview of the 242,724 earthquakes and seven volcanic eruptions recorded in Iceland over the fifteen years from 1996 to 2011.
Fifteen years are condensed into four minutes in this mesmerising overview of Iceland’s recent earthquakes and eruptions. Each second of this film shows just under a month in real time.
A clear swathe of activity is discernible from south-west to north-east, following where the North-American and Eurasian plates meet under Iceland.
Enjoy!
