Almost nine out of every ten tourists were happy with their experience of Iceland in March 2016, according to a survey conducted by Gallup.

Tourists from twenty countries travelling through Iceland’s main international airport at Keflavík took part in the survey.

They were asked to evaluate their stay in Iceland based on the following criteria: overall satisfaction, how likely they are to recommend Iceland to others, the extent to which their expectations were met, and value for money.

The average satisfaction rate for March was 85.8%, with the Australians the happiest and the Scandinavians least satisfied.

Head of Gallup Einar Einarsson suggests that one reason for the lower satisfaction rates among Scandinavians cold be that Icelandic society and environment are more similar to their own than for tourists from other countries.
