600 km of roads already closed
Search and rescue services have already closed almost 600 km of roads in South Iceland and a result of the severe weather system affecting Iceland, with closures elsewhere also planned.
Strong winds, stormy conditions and drifting snow will cause road and traffic chaos all over the country. Many warnings have been issued, and people appear to be taking heed, according to police sources.
Check out the website of the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration here for an updated map of road closures and conditions.
