Maiden WOW service to Washington
WOW air’s maiden flight to Washington DC is scheduled to depart from Keflavík International Airport (KEF) at 3:30pm today.
The Icelandic low-cost airline plans to operate the service four times a week for the rest of this month, then five times a week from June onwards.
WOW air flights will land at Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI), linked to Washington DC by a thirty-minute high-speed train link.
“Many American low-cost airlines fly to BWI. This will enable passengers to find reasonably priced onward connections to many US cities,” reads a WOW air statement. “We initially planned to fly to BWI four months a year, but high demand led us in January to take the decision to operate the route all year round.”
“Sales to BWI have exceeded our most optimistic expectations,” confirms Skúli Mogensen, founder and CEO of WOW air.
