Rakel Þórhallsdóttir and Örlygur Ólafsson have transformed an old building in the city centre into a wonderful vegetarian/ vegan soup bar.

The soup bar is an outlet from the very popular Súpubarinn in Borgartún 26 in the financial street of Reykjavik. The couple also opened an outlet called Súpa at Geysir, Iceland's most famous hot spring area.

The new venue is located at Bergstaðastræti 4. "Örlygur will be directing the soup making and will be introducing new soups as well as our famous porridge.  Our opening hours are from 8 am to 8 pm daily and we also have a liquor licence."

The green foliage painted on the facade of the building has gained a lot of attention and tourists regularly stop to have their picture taken outside.

"Russian artists Karian Ebiatova drew this magical tropical forest for us and Skiltamálun Reykjavikur painted it on the facade.  Inside, the tropical forest appears on tiles on the wall. The interiors are otherwise simple using the same philosophy as our food, when the ingredients are great it's best just to let them do the talking."
