Restaurants fined for breaking pricing rules

Lack of information on drink quantities was a major issue.

Lack of information on drink quantities was a major issue.

Nine Reykjavik restaurants have been fined by the Icelandic Consumer Agency for failing to display prices satisfactorily.

Under existing rules, Icelandic eateries must have a fully priced menu for patrons to consult at the front door giving both quantity and price information for alcoholic and soft drinks.

Most restaurants inspected in a first round had shortcomings of one type of another. The majority of them managed to rectify the situation before the second Consumer Agency visit, but nine establishments were dealt a ISK 50,000 fine (approx. €350).

These are: Asía, Cafe Retro, Casa Grande. Chuck Norris Grill, Dillon Whiskey Bar, Hressingarskálinn, Lebowski Bar, Kol and Prikið.
