Eating out: free food for kids!
Eating out in Iceland can be an expensive business, especially for families with children. Some restaurants in Greater Reykjavik have decided to lend a helping hand by offering free children’s meals.
A selection of these are listed below:
1. Slippbarinn – Mýrargata 2
Slippbarinn organises an all-you-can-eat brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, noon-3pm. Children under six eat free, while children 6-12 years of age eat for half price.
2. Lifandi Markaður – Borgartún 24
Children under ten eat free all day every day at Lifandi Markaður . Valid for the salad bar, soup, dish of the day and weekend brunch.
3. TGI Friday’s – Smáralind shopping centre
TGI Friday’s offers two free children’s meals for children under twelve on Thursdays.
4. Italiano Pizzeria – Hlíðasmári 15
Free children’s meal on Sundays for every adult purchasing food and drink.
5. Gló Hafnarfirði – Strandgata 34
The children’s menu at Gló í Hafnafirði is free after 4pm on weekdays. There is also a dedicated children’s play area.
6. Skrúður – Hagatorg
The Radisson Blu Saga Hotel’s Skrúður restaurant organises an all-you-can-eat buffet on weekdays, 11:30am-3pm and 6-10pm. Two children under twelve per family eat free, while children 12-16 years of age eat for half price.
7. VOX – Suðurlandsbraut 2
Children under six eat free for weekend brunch (11:30am-4pm on Saturdays and 11:30am-3pm on Sundays). Children 6-12 years of age eat for half price.
8. Satt Restaurant – Nauthólsvegur 52
Children under six eat free for brunch at Satt Restaurant . Children 6-12 years of age eat for half price.
9. Grand Hótel – Sigtún 38
Children under six eat free for Sunday brunch at Grand Hótel . Children 6-12 years of age eat for half price.
10. 4 th Floor Hotel / Studio 29 – Laugavegur 101
Children under six eat free at the lunch buffet, available every day noon-2pm.
11. Pizza Hut – Smáralind shopping centre
Children under four eat free at Pizza Hut’s pizza buffet on weekdays 11:30am-2pm and on Sundays 5-8:30pm. Children 4-12 years of age pay just ISK 990 (approx. €7).
