The ATP music festival in Iceland has just announced that legendary US composer and filmmaker John Carpenter will be performing at the festival in the summer of 2016. This will also be the first time that Carpenter performs his own music in public.

Carpenter released an album with Sacred Bones Records this summer called Lost Themes which has received a lot of critical acclaim. He will be performing songs from the album as well as earlier works at ATP which will take place in early July.

Barry Hogan at ATP says „We are incredibly honoured to present the first ever show by this legendary filmmaker and composer. Having had the opportunity to present the maestro Ennio Morricone twice in recent years, it has been a burning ambition of ours to also present John Carpenter, who is both a pioneer and a huge influence on us and so many great musicians and filmmakers that we work with. You'd be fucking crazy to miss this.”

Carpenter who is known for films such as Halloween, Escape from New York, Big Trouble in Little China and They Live has also composed many of the scores to his films.

The ATP Iceland festival takes place in Ásbrú, near Keflavik International Airport. The previous three editions of the festival have included artists such as Nick Cave, Portishead, Slowdive, Iggy Pop and Public Enemy.
