Death of French teenager still a mystery

South Iceland police are reportedly no nearer to piecing together the last movements of Florian Maurice François Cendre, the French teenager found dead in Iceland last month.

Cendre arrived in Iceland on 1 October 2014 and spent one night in a hotel in Reykjavik, before flying out to Höfn in South Iceland the next day. His body was found in nearby Laxárdalur valley ten months later.

Police have spoken to staff at the Reykjavik hotel where Cendre is last known to have been, but they reportedly do not remember him.

Police has also conducted a thorough search of the area where the body was found for any personal effects of the deceased, but none have been found.

An autopsy has been conducted but it may be some time before the findings are available.
