Runaway seal pup campsite commotion

The Reykavik Metropolitan police was called out to Laugardalur campsite in Reykjavik early yesterday morning in response to reports of a rampaging... seal pup.

Police were contacted at 6:16am yesterday morning after tourists staying at the campsite encountered a seal on their morning walk. It turned out to be a seal pup which has escaped from the nearby Reykjavik Family and Farm Zoo.

The pup was no push-over and gave the police the run-around, moving swiftly and repeatedly attempting to bite, sending one police officer to casualty with a bite wound.

Police eventually detained the runaway rascal and returned it to the Zoo.
