Einarsson's Order of the Falcon may be revoked
Sigurður Einarsson, one of the Kaupthing four sentenced to prison yesterday received Iceland's Order of the Falcon in 2007 for the part he played in exporting the Icelandic banks. The committee of the Order will be meeting soon to discuss whether Einarsson's medal should be revoked.
The Kaupþing four were all sentenced to prison yesterday by the Icelandic Supreme Court for market abuse.
Chairman of the Order of the Falcon committe, former Minister Guðni Ágústsson said to mbl.is today that his attention had been drawn to the fact that Icelandic law states that the committee can revoke the medal from anyone found guilty of criminal action.
"We have to have a look at whether such a situation has come up before and what to do in the matter," said Ágústsson.
