Construction is well under way for a new luxury guesthouse at Deplar in Skagafjörður, North Iceland. According to marketing manager of Eleven Experiences, the travel company running the guesthouse, it will be opening in April next year.

Icelandic entrepreneur Orri Vigfússon met US multimillionaire Chad Pike, who owns Eleven Experiences and Pike was enchanted by the area's natural beauty.

"Chad fell in love with Iceland, its nature, people and culture and he's putting a lot of work and a lot of money and passion into this project," says Vigfússon.

A four day stay at Deplar costs around 1,3 million ISK per person and amongst the activities offered there are heliski trips, salmon fishing, horse riding, surfing and whale watching.

Deplar will also be featuring a spa which includes saltwater floating tanks and an indoor and outdoor swimming pool.

Gourmet dining will also be part of the experience and a special wine cellar is being constructed.
