Icelandic artist Ólafur Elíasson is currently exhibiting at the Winter Palace in Vienna. In this comprehensive solo show, titled Baroque Baroque,  in this unique setting, the artist exhibits key works as well as newly commissioned works.

The Winter Palace was originally built as a lavish stately residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy, then acquired in the eighteenth century by Empress Maria Theresa before being used for the Court Treasury and later as the Ministry of Finance.

In his art, Ólafur Elíasson uses approaches from science, psychology and architecture in order to make the relation between reality, reception and representation visible and perceptible through movement, projection, shadows and mirroring. „Natural“ materials – as water air, mist or ice – are producing environments in which visitors simultaneously become active participants of his art.

One of Elíasson's most prominent works is the glass facade of Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre in Reykjavik.

Baroque Baroque is open until March 6th 2016. For more information see HERE.
