378 artists receive government art grant

The annual state art grant will be going to 378 artists of all genres for 2016. Amongst those receiving the grant this year are authors Hallgrímur Helgason and Andri Snær Magnason and musicians Valgeir Guðjónsson and Svavar Knútur Kristinsson. 

The grant, known as "the artists wage" (listamannalaun) in Icelandic is for 339.494 ISK per month and applicants either get the grant for three months, six months or a year. Artists have to pay taxes off the grant.
