At the Bobby Fischer Center, located by Ring Road One, you’ll find items related to the great chess genius Bobby Fischer on display.

Bobby became world champion in Reykjavík in 1972 when he beat the Soviet champion Boris Spassky in ‘The Game of the Century.’

In his later years he settled in Iceland and a few hundred meters away from the center you can visit his grave, located at the Laugardælir cemetery.

The center is also a community center for local chess clubs. Opening hours: May 15-Sep 15: 13:00-16:00 and by appointment.
