Snæfellsnes Excursions is located in the heart of west Iceland, about 120minutes drive from Reykjavík.  We offer bus rental, Snow Track Buggy and beautiful nature tours around Snæfellsnes Peninsula.  In the summer 2012 we started to offer guided tours around Snæfellsnes but have 10years of experience in travel tours all around Iceland and together we have traveled extensively.

We are so excited to show you the wonder of Snæfellsnes.  It is without a doubt the best kept secret in Iceland.

For instance - Private tour

Snæfellsnes Peninsula!

Our magnificent Local guided private tour around Snæfellsnes with a possibility of a stop on all off our historical locations. Of course it will be in your hands to pick a stops, but here are some places that we recommend for you to see. Djúpalónssandur (Deep Lagoon´s Sand.  It is like stepping into a lava wonderland.    There is to see a peculiar rock with a hole in it, called Gatklettur. Through the hole one can see Snæfellsjökull glacier, under good weather conditions.

There are two small freshwater lagoons to see on the sand, Bishop Guðmundur góði or Guðmundur the Good (1161-1237) is said to have blessed this lagoon in his time, but he blessed many springs including the Maríulind spring at Hellnar and many others around Iceland. Lóndrangar.

Uniquely-formed remnants of ancient basalt volcanic dikes sticking out from the sea. Londrangar and the hill Svalthufa are the remains of a crater, which has been eroded to its present form by the sea. The farmers in the area never made or make hay on the hill, because it is said to belong to the elves living in the area.

Arnarstapi is one of our favourite places on the Snæfellsnes peninsula. The extraordinary columnar basalt and cliff formations there are breathtaking, and one of Iceland's most beautiful natural harbor’s is at Arnarstapi. The beach holds a spectacular attraction. It has an eroded circular stone arch, called Gatklettur, and three rifts, Hundagja, Midgja and Musagja. And off course you can't miss the sculpture of Bardur Snaefellsas. Legend has it that he was half human and half ogre. His mother was human, but his father was half giant and half troll.

Hellnar, in earlier times, Hellnar would have been in relatively large part fisheries-related farms and buildings. On the beach, some spectacular rock formations are to be seen, one of which is a protruding cliff called Valasnös, which reaches across the ocean front and into the sea. Tunneling into this cliff there is a cave known for colorful changes of lighting and shades that vary in tune with the natural light and the movements of the sea.

In Hellnar you also find Gvendarbrunnar a.k.a. Mariulind you can taste excellent spring water which is said to have healing powers.  Finally we have our famous Kirkjufell (Church mountain) and Kirkjufellsfoss.  It is possible to climb Kirkjufell and it takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes or so to reach the top.  The mountain is 463m high and stands on the north coast of Iceland´s Snæfellsnes peninsula near the town of Grundarfjörður.

After that trip, you will be left with a hart full of joy and your mind blown with beautiful landscaping pictures, never seen before.

Of course you have many other ways of using our service, for instance the trip "Top of the Diamond!".  For more information, see our website.
