The ten full-time jobs of directors of Landspítali will be eliminated while the number of managers will increase from eight to eleven according to the new hospital’s organizational chart.

This is stated in an article by Director Runólfur Pálsson, who says that he is convinced “that the simplification of the current management structure will lead not only to optimization of the operations but it will also strengthen the operations and enhance the clinical services of the hospital.”

The new and amended executive director's duties in terms of scope and responsibility will be advertised in the near future, with seven posts as chief executive of clinical units and two as chief executive of supportive departments.

Pálsson presented the new organizational chart to the Minister of Health this morning, which has been in the works for the past few months.

"The main focus of the new management structure is to strengthen the clinical function of the hospital by bringing greater authority and decision-making power closer to the frontline where the services are delivered," is stated in the article.

There will be a special emphasis on the role of the Director of Nursing and the Managing Director of Health as the leaders of the largest healthcare professionals in the hospital.

A special office will also be established under the direction of the Director of Development, which is intended to carry out new projects related to the new Landspítali at Hringbraut.
